NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - The Town of Newburgh has a plan to improve the wastewater system.

Officials say the project will feature a new four million gallon wet weather equalization tank that will be designed to temporarily store excess storm volumes.

They say a new headworks screening facility will be installed upstream of the tank.

The work will take place on town property located at the existing WWTP site.

Leaders say it’s a cost effect way to put Newburgh in compliance with some recent legislation changes.

The project is estimated to be $35 million, and will require a rate increase customers.
