NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEVV) — The Town of Newburgh has announced a plan to improve its wastewater system, addressing issues with wet weather flows exceeding the capacity of the existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).
A new 4-million-gallon tank will be installed to manage excess stormwater, along with a new screening facility. This project aims to enhance the system's resilience and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
The estimated cost of the project is $35 million, which would require a rate increase for system users.
A public hearing on the proposed rate changes will be held at 5:30 p.m. on November 12, 2025, at the Newburgh Town Hall. The hearing will also be available via livestream on YouTube. Interested parties are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions.
