Early reviews for Vince Gilligan’s new show Pluribus, on Apple TV, appear to show the creator of Breaking Bad and its spinoff Better Call Saul has another winner on his hands.
Gilligan reunites with Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn, but this time she’s the lead playing Carol Sturka, who, as the Pluribus logline goes, is “the most miserable person on the earth that must save the world from happiness.”
Sturka is a hard-drinking, successful, if unsatisfied fantasy romance novelist. After returning home to Albuquerque, N.M., from her latest book tour with her manager-girlfriend Helen (Miriam Shor), a virus hits, causing millions of people to die and billions more to be infected, leading them to be cheery at all times.
Needless to say, Sturka is immune and everyone wants to know why.
