A 54-year-old caregiver in Texas will spend decades behind bars for severely abusing and neglecting the disabled woman she was being paid to look after.

Comal County District Judge R. Bruce Boyer last month ordered Brandy Marie Doster to serve 25 years in a state correctional facility after she pleaded guilty to one count of injury to a disabled individual causing serious bodily injury, authorities announced.

According to a news release from the Comal County District Attorney's Office, the investigation into Doster began on May 21, 2023, when officers with the New Braunfels Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding the body of an adult female in the backseat of a car parked in her garage.

The caller was Doster's estranged daughter, who told police Doster had arrived at her hom
