The 20th Annual MNP Chili Cook-off Challenge broke attendance records, successfully raising $3,197 for the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
The fundraiser, held Nov. 6 at the Herman Prior Activity Centre, saw seven local organizations compete for the title, which was ultimately claimed by Stride Credit Union.
“This is our 20th year, and I think we had record attendance this year, honestly,” said Hannah Brown, an accountant and event organizer with MNP. Brown confirmed the final tally was $3197 for PAWS, with over 220 people attending the lunch event which ran from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

For the recipient organization, the donation is crucial for continuing their work to protect and care for local animals.
“It means the world to us,” said Christina Nesbi
