LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is warning the community on Friday of a scam that is circulating.
The sheriff's office had previously warned scam phone calls were circulating that had people falsely identifying themselves as Sheriff's Deputies, who would then would say people had missed court dates and demand payment to avoid arrest.
Authorities said this has changed to a text message instructing people to click a link and pay their "property tax bill," but that these are scams.
If you get one of these text messages:
Do not click any link
Do not respond with personal or financial information
Delete the message immediately
The department will never call, text or message through social media to request or collect any sort of payment, the Jefferson County Sherif
