HOUSTON – The Texans are extremely banged-up after a physical game against the Denver Broncos and are preparing to play without five starters Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

That includes quarterback C.J. Stroud, right tackle Tytus Howard and nickel Jalen Pitre due to concussions with all three remaining in the NFL protocol Friday morning, along with kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn due to a quadriceps injury and right guard Ed Ingram with a knee injury.

The Texans will replace Stroud with backup Davis Mills, Howard with Blake Fisher, Fairbairn with Matthew Wright and Ingram with Juice Scruggs, who had been rotating with Laken Tomlinson at left guard. Scruggs stepped in for Ingram last Sunday when he got hurt.

Without Pitre, the Texans are expected to use “multiple” options to fill in
