LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Just days after a UPS cargo plane caught fire, crashed and exploded in Louisville, a class action lawsuit has been filed.
The lawsuit was filed by Morgan and Morgan on behalf of a person who lived near the crash site and two affected businesses.
They're suing UPS, as well as GE, which manufactured the engine, and Boeing, maker of the MD-11 plane model that crashed.
The lawsuit claims the crash "acted like a bomb," igniting 220,000 pounds of jet fuel, as well as combustible materials in surrounding locations, creating widespread damage, injuries and deaths. As of Friday, 13 people have died from the crash.
It claims the companies failed to maintain the aircraft, to properly train crews and to implement safety policies. They also blame failures in the plane's engine a
