Fire fighters stationed out of Briggs Road/Station 2 could soon have something they need but have never had — an unlimited supply of good clean water.
As they finish off a water service expansion project along the Route 6 corridor, the Macomber School and several surrounding streets, members of the town’s Infrastructure Oversight Committee plan next to extend water to the fire station and also in a loop at Columbia Street, as they look to further expand water service beyond the corridor.
Apart from the installation of water service and a hydrant at the station, the job will also make water available to approximately 33 homes. Though the project does not bring water directly to potential customers’ homes, property owners in the area can ask to be tied into the system.
