The Los Angeles Zoo has welcomed a new primate baby, the first of its kind at the zoo in nearly 15 years

The zoo announced that one of its Bornean orangutans, 43-year-old Kalim, had given birth to a baby boy on Oct. 10

Although this is the first baby born to Kalim and dad Isim, 31, Kalim previously welcomed two other infant orangutans

The Los Angeles Zoo has welcomed a new primate baby — the first of its kind at the zoo in nearly 15 years!

On Thursday, Nov. 6, the zoo announced that one of its Bornean orangutans, 43-year-old Kalim, had given birth to a baby boy on Oct. 10.

The mother and baby had been spending his first month behind-the-scenes at the zoo, and they recently made their debut at the Red Ape Rain Forest, the zoo said.
