Gainesville and Florida football will miss its chance to play in the big leagues.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will play the 2027 season in Orlando, instead of Gainesville. The news was first reported by the Orlando Sentinel’s Mike Bianchi .

The decision still needs to be approved in a vote by NFL owners.

Everbank Stadium begins a $1.4 billion renovation after the 2025 season. The Jags will play there under reduced capacity in 2026. The Florida-Georgia game moves to Atlanta in 2025 and Tampa in 2026.

The Jaguars had previously announced the temporary home for the team would be Orlando or Gainesville. Orlando seemed to make more sense.
