WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump will be at Northwest Stadium on Sunday as the Commanders take on the Detroit Lions, the White House confirmed.
The president will be there to celebrate veterans, the White House said, as former service members are expected to be honored during halftime. Sunday's game against the Lions is the final Commanders game before Veterans Day.
The White House posted a clip on Friday from "The Pat McAfee Show" on ESPN, allowing the sports commentator to make the announcement.
"The president of the country will be in the owner's box of the Commanders — do you think M.C.D.C. is going to be a little bit worried?" McAfee says in the clip, referencing to the Detroit head coach's nickname of "Motor City Dan Campbell."
