ASHBURN, Va. — Just when you thought the Washington Commanders couldn’t lose any more players, the NFL came up with a new way for them to do just that.
Following the Commanders’ Week 9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, a game that cost them quarterback Jayden Daniels, receiver Luke McCaffrey, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore, to add to the already long list of injuries suffered this season, the NFL handed down a suspension for linebacker Frankie Luvu.
The cause, the league said, was repeated violations of the relatively new hip-drop tackle rule. Three violations of it, in fact, said the league, justified pulling Luvu from his spot on the roster in Washington for one week without pay, further damaging the team’s ability to field a competent squad in Week 10.
