SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Charter school operators known as Schools of Hope can begin moving their programs into public schools in Florida starting next week under a law that takes effect Nov. 11.
The Sarasota County School Board voted on a proposal to help protect schools from this charter takeover. The Schools of Hope law originally took effect in 2017, but recent changes to the charter school statute are now being implemented.
“There are some very important changes that did take place this year that can impact certain district schools,” said Mitch Teitelbaum, a local education attorney with Windsor Law.
