The Aviation Heritage Museum in Bull Creek is celebrating WA’s aviation legacy with a new interactive exhibition.
The Black Box exhibition opening this month is based on the soon-to-be-released book of the same name.
They both celebrate the people, planes and moments that shaped WA’s aviation history.
The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover the stories behind the aircraft housed in the museum through a self-guided educational tour experience.
Its stories include that of former RAAF instructor Ken Pittman.
Now a long-time museum volunteer, Mr Pittman uncovered classified RAAF orders to use surplus Douglas DC-3 aircraft for target practice, which he leaked to the press in a bid to save the aviation icon from near-extinction.
