ROCHESTER, Minn. – A jury has found a Texas man guilty of attempted murder for a drive-by shooting in Rochester.
It happened on October 29, 2022. The Rochester Police Department says Exavier Lloyd Porter, 35 of Fort Worth, Texas, was a passenger in a vehicle in the 2400 block of 18 ½ Street NW. Investigators say Porter was riding with a female and saw her ex-boyfriend drive by. Porter is accused of getting out of the vehicle and firing around 10 shots at the passing car.
Court documents state the intended victim’s car was hit four times but he was not injured. Another nearby vehicle was also struck by the gunfire.
Porter pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and drive-by shooting. After a four-day trial, a jury convicted Porter of both offenses.
