Residents of Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford and surrounding areas could see their first snowfall this season on Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement on Friday afternoon, saying the region could see two to 10 centimetres of snow starting Sunday morning and ending in the evening.

It will mark the first wave of winter weather for much of southern Ontario, said Trudy Kidd, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

"A low pressure system could bring significant snowfall to parts of southern Ontario on Sunday," Environment Canada said in its statement.

Yet, confidence is "low" about how strong the winter weather will be and where exactly the snowfall may take place. The agency said snow accumulation amounts could also change.
