Toronto residents should prepare for winter weather this weekend, as the city is expected to receive its first significant snowfall of the season. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Friday, predicting snow accumulation between 2 and 10 centimeters on Sunday.

The weather agency warned that a low-pressure system could bring considerable snowfall to parts of southern Ontario. Motorists are advised to expect challenging driving conditions and to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Environment Canada also recommended that drivers consider installing winter tires before Sunday.

The forecast for Toronto indicates cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of rain on Friday night. Winds from the northwest are expected to pick up around midnight, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h. The overnight low will be around 4 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, the city may see some sunshine early in the day, but clouds are expected to move in by late morning. The high temperature will be around 7 degrees Celsius. As the evening approaches, the chance of flurries or rain showers increases to 30 percent, with a low of -1 degree Celsius.

Sunday's forecast predicts snow throughout the day, with temperatures reaching a high of 2 degrees Celsius. There is a 60 percent chance of flurries or rain showers continuing into the evening, with temperatures dropping to a low of -5 degrees Celsius. Environment Canada noted that accumulating snow is likely, with flurries expected to persist into the following week.

Looking ahead, Monday may see a 40 percent chance of snow, with a high of 1 degree Celsius and a low of -3 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, when Remembrance Day ceremonies will take place, no snow or rain is expected, but cloudy conditions will remain, with a high of 3 degrees Celsius and an overnight low of 2 degrees Celsius.

The cloudy weather is projected to continue through the week, with highs of 6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 5 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Residents in northern Ontario, including Kapuskasing and Timmins, may experience snow on Friday, with accumulations of up to 10 centimeters possible. However, Environment Canada cautioned that confidence in snowfall predictions for southern Ontario remains low, with estimates ranging from 5 to 15 centimeters on Sunday.
