A one-year-old girl has died after being struck by a freight train in northern inland New South Wales .
She was walking along Baranbah St in Baan Baa, about 135km northwest of Tamworth, when she was clipped by the train about 7.50pm on Friday.
The infant was treated by paramedics for serious injuries before being taken to hospital where she died.
The train driver, a 22-year-old man, was not injured but taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
“A crime scene has been established, and investigations have commenced into the circumstances of the crash,” NSW Police said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
