CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Five days after a water main break west of uptown, residents in the Freedom Drive corridor are regaining service, but the effects will extend into next week.
Charlotte Water officials said the break occurred Sunday night to a 20-inch pipe on Freedom Drive near Thrift Road. By Friday afternoon, the pipe was replaced and back in service.
During the repairs, outbound lanes for Freedom Drive have been closed, and a detour in place.
Charlotte Water says crews are now rebuilding the lanes, which are expected to reopen Wednesday evening, weather permitting. Temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing Monday and Tuesday night.
