CHAPEL HILL — UNC basketball and Kansas are playing at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill for the first time in the history of the blue-blood programs on Friday, Nov. 7 (7 p.m., ESPN ), in a top-25 matchup.
The 25th-ranked Tar Heels (1-0) and 19th-ranked Jayhawks (1-0) have met 13 times. Kansas has won five straight against UNC, including the 2022 national championship game. The Tar Heels are aiming for their first victory in the series since 2002.
UNC opened the regular season with a rout of Central Arkansas after splitting a pair of preseason exhibition games, losing vs. No. 8 BYU in Utah before a rout of Division II foe Winston-Salem State in Chapel Hill. Kansas won an exhibition game at Louisville before opening the season with a blowout victory vs. Green Bay at Allen Fieldhouse.
