Bristol Bears were beaten 14-38 by an Argentina XV at Ashton Gate on Friday night as the club’s young guns were given a stern test by the visiting development international side.

Mat Protheroe, pressed into action at fly-half, converted both scores. But Argentina walked away worthy winners, touching down twice through dangerous full back Tobias Wade and hooker Leonel Oviedo, and once through number eight captain Juan Cruz Pérez Rachel and Nicolas D’amorim. Julián Hernández and Bautista Farise both added a pair of conversions.
