STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - More than 100 people are registered to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s starting at 9 a.m. Saturday in Mill Creek Park.
Among the participants will be 16-year-old Ava Mincey, who has raised about $40,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association through lemonade sales over the past five years.
Mincey began her fundraising efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic after losing her great grandmother to Alzheimer’s.
“I had a personal loss with my great grandmother from Alzheimer’s and so at the age of 10 I was like - well I started volunteering with my church youth group - and at the age of 10 I was like I want to do something other than just sit home during Covid and I want to do something else to help this cause since I couldn’t go to the nursing home and do other stu
