(NewsNation) — A federal grand jury is preparing to issue more than 30 subpoenas connected to President Donald Trump's allegations that false claims of collusion between him and Russia during the 2016 election were perpetuated by his political enemies, sources within the Department of Justice and the FBI confirmed to NewsNation on Friday.
The subpoenas are part of the investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan's handling of the discredited "Steele dossier" and role in the alleged weaponization of intelligence during the 2016 election assessment, the source said.
Brennan, former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page have been served subpoenas, a source familiar with the investigation confirmed to NewsNation.
