Ted Stevens International is among the airports that started cutting flights on Friday. That's an order from the FAA as the government shutdown continues. The cuts at the airports will be gradual, ramping up from 4% today to 10% by next Friday. Scott McMurren, publisher of the Alaska Travelgram, says the reductions are creating challenges for airport staff. “As the shutdown continues, it’s putting further strain on the air traffic controllers, the TSA, and all the other back-of-the-house support mechanisms, people that are working without pay,” McMurren said.
