ROCHESTER, Minn.- Channel One Regional Food Bank distributed boxed groceries to around 5,000 households on Friday, Nov. 7 using the $200,000 donated by the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners.
The food bank says it was able to give families who came out to receive them a week's worth of groceries including milk, eggs, chicken and potatoes.
"The commissioners didn't wait until people were missing meals to act, they acted proactively, thoughtfully and collaboratively to make sure the most vulnerable people had access to delicious food," Virginia Witherspoon, the food bank's executive director said.
