ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – More people are feeling the effects of the record-long government shutdown, and it’s pushing community organizations to do more to help. A community resource fair will take place on Friday night, starting at 4:30 p.m. and concluding at 7:30 p.m., at Albuquerque High School. The fair is expected to draw out around 20 different groups from government agencies, to utilities, food banks, and more.
One credit union told KRQE they are seeing an uptick in people asking for financial help.
“We have some flexible relief options, so we have things like skip a pay, or penalty-free withdrawals from share certificates. We are exploring secured savings loans. We're really hoping that folks will come in and schedule time with one of our financial consultants,” said Sara Kelle
