WATERBURY, Conn. — On Friday morning, Waterbury firefighters battled the city's second significant blaze in eight days.

A fire broke out in an unoccupied house at 149 Sylvan Ave. around 8:30 a.m. Nov. 7.

This occurred after a previous fire totaled the popular Bailey's Bar and Grill on Store Avenue on Halloween.

Regarding Friday's incident on Sylvan Avenue, firefighters say no one was home when the flames broke out.

One firefighter was hospitalized afterwards for an evaluation, but fire officials say it it was only a precautionary measure for smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.
