ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -ST. LOUIS — The Gateway Arch reopened to visitors during weekends in November after the Jefferson National Parks Association secured local funding to operate the facility during the federal government shutdown.
The organization is funding the Arch museum, tram to the top and Old Courthouse for select weekends this month, allowing thousands of visitors access to the iconic landmark. David Grove, president of the Jefferson National Parks Association, said the organization is using funds previously generated by the park through merchandise and other sales.
“It’s so important that that part of the fabric of our country is open to the public and remains accessible,” Grove said.
