Peaking at the right time and scoring upsets in back-to-back weeks has resulted in a new AABHN junior football champion – the St. John’s College Green Eagles.
Facing four-time defending champion Brantford Collegiate Institute in the Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk final at Bisons Alumni North Park Sports Complex, St. John’s built a 16-point first-half lead on its way to a 31-8 win over the Colts.
St. John’s (4-3) started its playoff run with a 34-0 win over undefeated North Park Collegiate (4-1) in the semifinals before concluding its season with a second upset of BCI (3-3).
“At the beginning of the season, in training camp, we saw something and the kids didn’t believe us until a couple of weeks ago,” said SJC head coach Louie Colaiacovo, whose team lost a one-point
