DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A local farmers market that won an award last year for its community impact has suddenly been cancelled with no explanation, and now vendors say they haven’t been paid in five months.
Local farms often depend on community farmers markets to help supplement their income. When those go away, farmers are left picking up the pieces before winter hits.
Vendors of the Lincoln Park farmers market, some of whom wish to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, sent letters to the Community Action Duluth’s board of directors regarding missing and late payments. They were met with radio silence until the event’s cancellation.
