DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A retired naval officer working at Costco in Duluth has used his military medical training to help more than two dozen people experiencing medical emergencies over the past four years.

Phil Semaan, who began his military career as an Air Force trauma nurse before becoming a naval officer, said his military experience automatically kicks in during emergency situations.

“You just go into training mode that you did 30 years ago, and again, I feel blessed that I have the training to be able to help people in an emergency situation,” Semaan said.

Semaan has assisted customers and coworkers in a wide range of emergencies, including cardiac issues, diabetic complications and severe food allergies.
