The Giants will have a new set of pitching coaches in 2026.
J.P. Martinez won’t return as the club’s pitching coach after accepting a new role as the bullpen coach of the Braves , ending his five-season run in San Francisco. Garvin Alston also told the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser on Friday that he won’t be back for a third year as the Giants’ bullpen coach.
Martinez, 43, reportedly was under contract with the Giants through next year, but president of baseball operations Buster Posey said members of the coaching staff were told they were free to look for new opportunities after Tony Vitello was brought in to replace Bob Melvin as the club’s manager .
