LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A man who lost both his home and workplace in Tuesday’s UPS plane crash is receiving financial support from the community through an online fundraiser that has raised more than $20,000.

Rob Sanders was living and working at Grade A Auto Parts on Grade Lane when the plane crashed Tuesday. His friend Richard Aubrey said Sanders was able to escape the building when fire, explosion and smoke occurred.

“He went into the building and suddenly fire, explosion and smoke came out of nowhere,” Aubrey said. “He described it like a bomb went off.”

Sanders worked as an on-site maintenance person and lived in an RV on the property. He lost his truck and RV in the crash, and his workplace was destroyed.

Aubrey started a GoFundMe campaign to help Sanders get back on his feet.
