PORT ANGELES — Incumbent Port Angeles City Council member LaTrisha Suggs has edged ahead in one of the city’s closest races as updated ballot totals were released Friday evening by the Clallam County Auditor’s Office.

With 22,732 ballots counted — representing 38.19% voter turnout — Suggs now leads challenger James Taylor by just over two percentage points in the contest for Council Position 1, with 51.06% (2,632 votes) to Taylor’s 48.77% (2,514). The race remains too close to call, with an estimated 4,500 ballots still left to count.
