Bad news for Frosty and nugget lovers! Wendy’s plans to close hundreds of locations across the country.

According to CNN , Wendy’s CEO Ken Cook shared the news during a call with analysts on Friday. While he didn’t share the exact number of locations affected, he said the fast-food giant will close a “mid single-digit percentage.”

Given the chain’s approximate 6,000 US locations, this could mean anywhere from 200 to 350 restaurants will be shuttered.

The exact locations haven’t been shared, but Cook noted that “consistently underperforming” locations will be considered. The closures will start this year and go into 2026.

Cook further argued that closures “will strengthen the system and enable franchisees to invest more capital and resources in their remaining restaurants.” He added
