Grieving parents from across the U.S., who blame OpenAI and other social media platforms for the deaths of their children, met with Attorney General Rob Bonta Friday.
The parents urged Bonta to create stronger laws to protect children from the risks of AI chatbots and social media.
In the final hours of his life, 23-year-old Zane Shamblin of Texas spent time communicating with ChatGPT, telling the AI his plans to end his life.
His final message this past July read, “Think this is about the final adios.”
The chatbot responded, “I love you rest easy king”.
His mother Alicia Shamblin discovered the messages two months after his death.
