The Milton Hershey School (MHS) and Milton Hershey School Trust opted to terminate a lease with a Derry Township food assistance program after failed payments left what would have been a 200,000 square-foot warehouse an unfinished shell.
Cocoa Packs, an organization that aims to battle food insecurity for children throughout central Pennsylvania, announced plans to build the warehouse in 2022.
Those plans stopped suddenly earlier this year after Cocoa Packs failed to pay its construction firm, JEM Group, for months , according to a lien filed in a Dauphin County court.
The Hershey Trust Company previously told PennLive Cocoa Packs leases land from them, “but the Trust is not involved with this construction project.”
