Bellefonte ended Juniata’s four-year championship streak Friday night with a hard-fought 17-6 victory in the District 6 Class 4A title game at Mifflin County High School.
Despite entering the game with a 5-6 record and missing their top two quarterbacks, Bellefonte leaned on a powerful ground attack and a resilient defense to secure its first district crown since 2019. Freshman quarterback Alten Howell led the way with over 100 rushing yards and a touchdown, while his brother Ashten added 48 yards and a score.
Bellefonte struck first with a one-yard touchdown run by Ashten Howell late in the opening quarter. A 23-yard field goal by William Oskin extended the lead to 10-0 before halftime.
Juniata responded in the third quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run by Jasper Shepps.
