Newman lost their first two games this season but has won six straight since and left no doubt in their most recent win against South Plaquemines.

Both Newman and South Plaquemines were undefeated in district play heading into a Friday night matchup at South Plaquemines to decide the District 10-2A championship. Newman scored on the first drive of the game and would score all the points in a 28-0 win to conclude the regular season.

Newman senior Jake Randle is in his first year starting at quarterback and threw three touchdown passes in the first half. A Tulane commitment who was Newman’s starting running back last season, Randle completed 15 of 21 passes for 234 yards.
