ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - As the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered a reduction in air traffic to reduce the strain on air traffic controllers and maintain air safety, aviation experts are highlighting how travelers can protect themselves and what their rights are if your upcoming flight gets canceled.

“These are clearly unsettled times. They’re uncertain,” said Alan Armstrong, aviation lawyer and show pilot for 49 years. “I’m not casting blame on anybody, nothing like that, but the simple fact is, we’re just not getting it done right now.”

In what is now the longest government shutdown in history, Armstrong said to pack your patience, or better yet, to not pack at all.
