MOUNDSVILLE — 103 combined points made for a whiplash-inducing regular season finale Friday between the John Marshall Monarchs and Wheeling Park Patriots inside Monarch Stadium, as the visiting Patriots (6-4) cemented their status of hosting a playoff game next week with a 63-40 victory over the Monarchs (6-4).
While Wheeling Park entered Friday rated seventh in the 16-team playoff field of the WVSSAC’s Class AAAA, John Marshall was holding onto a spot in Class AAA, rated 16th coming into Friday.
