The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department is preparing to fingerprint your children — if you want them to.

As a result of the Missing Children Act of 1982, law enforcement agencies and community groups across the country have established fingerprinting programs designed to assist authorities if a child is missing.

East Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck and Minot, N.D., are among area cities that have instituted such programs.
