Opelika engineered an unconventional fourth-quarter comeback and earned a 27-21 victory over Hewitt-Trussville on Friday in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs.

Trailing 21-12 entering the fourth quarter, Opelika’s Reese Beasley kicked a 32-yard field goal, and Jalyn Washington caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Howard Cooper to make it 22-21 with 5:11 to play.
