In a dogfight for most of its nonconference matchup against Rice on Friday, Nov. 7, the Oregon men's basketball team used a pesky defense and a strong second half to a 67-63 win over the Owls at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks (2-0) got out of the gates slow, trailing the Owls (1-1) at the halftime break, 32-27, before a 22-8 run to open the second half put the home team ahead for good. Though the Owls hung around the entire game, the Ducks used free throws down the stretch and a strong defensive effort to hold on at home.
