FULLERTON — Ethan Mundt had a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and a momentum-changing fumble return for a touchdown to help the Troy football team defeat Orange, 49-27, in a CIF-SS Division 5 first-round playoff game Friday at Fullerton High School.
The Warriors (10-1), who are ranked No. 20 in Orange County, play on the road against undefeated Rio Hondo Prep in the second round Friday, Nov. 14. The Kares (11-0) defeated Thousand Oaks, 50-34, in their first-round game.
Quarterback Mason Mays completed only six passes for the Warriors, but three were for touchdowns. One scoring pass was for 19 yards to Mundt, and he had scoring passes of 80 and 61 yards to Noah Tapia.
The second touchdown pass to Tapia came late in the game and sealed the victory.
