It has been warned state pensioners could be hardest hit in the Autumn Budget - if Rachel Reeves "gets her way". A former Conservative Party pensions minister has warned the poorest will feel it the most.

Speaking out about the Labour Party Budget coming on November 26, Baroness Ros Altman has issued a warning. She told the Sun: "Working families would not be affected by the changes – but pensioners would be hit.

"This is because pensioners do not pay National Insurance after state pension age – but they do pay income tax. Someone with a retirement income of £35,000 a year would pay £400 a year more tax.
