John McGinn has recalled that his first meeting with Unai Emery was the most fascinating of his career.

More than seven years after joining Aston Villa from Hibernian for a fee of £2.75 million, the captain’s story at the club is far from over, having signed a new deal earlier this week.

Then, on Thursday night, McGinn made his 300th appearance for Villa against Maccabi Tel Aviv , coming off the bench to celebrate the major milestone.
