A 21-year-old student preparing for the NEET exam in Uttar Pradesh died by suicide on Friday, leaving behind a two-page note expressing regret for not being able to fulfill his parents’ dreams.

The incident took place in a private hostel in Kanpur's Rawatpur area. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Aan, a resident of Rampur.

According to police, Aan had shifted to the Hitkari Nagar-based hostel just three days ago to focus on his studies.

On Friday afternoon, his roommate Imdad Hasan, a student from Bareilly, had asked him to accompany him for Friday prayers. Aan reportedly declined, saying he wanted to stay back.
