The roof of a bus has been ripped off after it hit a low bridge - despite a giant sign warning drivers. ‌

The Bee Network bus, operated by Go North West, collided with the railway bridge on Weston Street in Bolton, Greater Manchester, at around 7.45pm yesterday (Friday November 7). No passengers were on board at the time and the driver of the bus is understood to have emerged unharmed. ‌

The rail bridge, which is located in the Burnden area, south of Bolton town centre, is 3.7m high and clearly marked in giant yellow letters with the warning: 'LOW BRIDGE'. ‌

According to Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), the bus was being driven back to the Go North West Bolton Depot - just half a mile away - at the time of the incident.
